All couples and families experience conflict, but most have no good models for dealing with it productively. Avoiding issues causes deep dissatisfaction and risk of looking elsewhere to meet needs; or at minimum, bitter resentment. Fighting without the ability to hear or the willingness to meet each other’s needs will cause repeated wounds that will either make the relationship grow cold or escalate to very unproductive levels of conflict-- even to domestic violence that can destroy lives.
